Free seed collections by educational centers and local variety toy library

Thanks to the grant for environmental education activities, this year we carried out the project "Environmental education about Mallorca's cultivated biodiversity through play and the garden", financed by the General Directorate of Waste and Environmental Education.

One of the parts of this project has been the creation of seed collections for school gardens, edited by the illustrator Nívola Uyá, and which we are very excited to present to you. The collections contain 12 sheets: 10 sheets of local varieties (with the necessary information to be able to sow and consume them during the school year, in addition to culinary information and description) and 2 sheets of processes (planting and extracting seeds). In addition, 3 sachets of seeds of local varieties (Mallorcan parsley, donkey's ear lettuce and purple carrot) are also included.

We have prepared 40 free collections for schools, and they will be given away to the first 40 requests we receive. Only 1 collection will be delivered per centre, so that they can reach more.

TO REQUEST COLLECTION:
All those educational centers that you are interested in getting one, you must send an email to info@varietatslocals.org with your details and the details of the center for the shipment.

We will send the collections within this month of December, and you have time to order them until December 15th. But do it soon, as they are sure to run out!

Also, thanks to the same help, we have made a toy library of local varieties, with wooden materials created by David's Sa Ludo. It consists of a domino, a memory game, a 3 in a row and a who's who, and is thought to be taken to workshops and fairs for children to play with.

Both this toy library and the collections of seeds will be presented at IES Binissalem on Friday 11 December at 11.30 am.
