Update on the Multiplication and Lifeseeding Project

Our multiplication project is progressing rapidly these past few weeks. Cabbage, cauliflower, onions and lettuce crops, among others, are developing normally. Although at the beginning of the crop, a significant population of caterpillars and cabbage weevils was detected in cabbages and cauliflowers, with the relevant treatments it was possible to restore the health of these.

We have been germinating pots and stocking up quickly to have enough stock for the upcoming summer season of 2024, and you can now find these seeds in our online store, in the office and at collaborating stores. At the same time, we have been preparing the varieties that need to be multiplied next summer, and soon the seedlings will be made.

In parallel to the multiplication project, a test was carried out in two plots of two different multipliers where different varieties of cabbage were sown. These are Cabbage, Cabbage, Cabbage, Cabbage, and two hybrid varieties, to compare with these.

The idea is to characterize the four local varieties of cabbage, to incorporate them into the catalog of local varieties of the Balearic Islands of the IRFAP, in addition to studying the need for selection of these and promoting their consumption.
