NEW Weather Station

These past months our ADV has completed one year. For this year's call, the intention has been to make our rehearsals a little more technical, and that's why we've installed a new weather station.

With this, we can take data on radiation, temperature and humidity, rainfall, wind, and even moisture on the leaf. All this data is updated every hour, and you can check it on your computer or mobile. With this, it is possible to predict periods of greater incidence of pests or diseases, in addition to having a reliable record where you can check climate data to complement tests or studies.

The context of this year is the trial of the priority plague Spodoptera frugiperda, a lepidoptera that is widely distributed in Africa and America, and very polyphagous. The entry of this pest would mean a disaster at the productive level. For this reason, it is important to carry out surveys, in our case with delta traps with pheromone specific to this species, so that if the pest enters, it can be eradicated immediately.

With the weather station, it will be possible to know which periods are most suitable for the entry of the lepidoptera, as in the case of the recent masses of dust coming from Africa, which can facilitate the arrival of these types of insects.

The installation of this station has been possible thanks to the help from the plant defense groups, on the part of FOGAIBA.
